David Salkin is a musician, singer-songwriter, film composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and mixer.

He is currently touring with Zazie on her Nouvel Air Tour. He recently scored the TV film “Meurtres à Montauban,” directed by Muriel Aubin and starring Hubert Delattre and Déborah Krey, that will be aired at the end of the year.

Recent scores include the TV film “Petit Ange,” directed by Christian Bonnet and starring Anny Duperey, Alexia Barlier, and Arnaud Binard, as well as three episodes of the hit TV series “Alex Hugo,” directed by Muriel Aubin and starring Samuel Le Bihan and Lionnel Astier. In addition to composing the score, David wrote and performed the song “Oh Frozen Love,” featured in “Le Prix de la Liberté,” which has so far reached 600,000 streams on Spotify. He also wrote the song “Let the Healing Begin,” featured in “La Voie de l’Esprit” and performed by Sandra Nkaké.

Born into an artistic milieu, David’s first interest in music began with percussion at the age of 5, adding drums and guitar by the age of 9. By the age of 15, he had already undertaken his first major national tour as a professional drummer with Pierre Vassiliu.

Over the subsequent years, David has worked on extensive studio and live projects with numerous high-profile artists, including the band Raoul Petite, Jacques Higelin, Alain Bashung, Zazie, Maurane, Stephan Eicher, Florent Pagny, Nolwenn, Chris Spedding, and composer Eric Serra (The Fifth Element, GoldenEye, Nikita, Lucy). He has also worked for the house band of TV shows such as Star Academy and The Voice.

In the late 90s, David moved to the UK, where he extensively honed his songwriting, producing, and composing skills, collaborating with bands and artists such as Khadja Nin, with whom he co-wrote “Like an Angel” for her album released on Miles Copeland’s US-based record label ARK 21. He teamed up with longstanding session musician Luis Jardim (The Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney) to work on 16B with cutting-edge artist Omid, a project which included live performances on the Jo Whiley Show and other European gigs.

Now based in Paris, David has set up his recording studio to become an instrument in itself, allowing for a rapid workflow with the ability to experiment and create unique sounds and textures. This setup efficiently blends acoustic and electronic vibes, using a variety of instruments and processing them live. It serves as a very creative tool for scoring music for films and documentaries, as well as for producing songs.
